Please cite this article in press as: M.F. Demirci e doi:10.1016/j.cviu.2010.12.012 Matching configurations of image features, represented as attributed graphs, to configurations of model features is an important component in many object recognition algorithms. Noisy segmentation of images and imprecise feature detection may lead to graphs that represent visually similar configurations that do not admit an injective matching. In previous work, we presented a framework which computed an explicit many-to-many vertex correspondence between attributed graphs of features configurations. The framework utilized a low distortion embedding function to map the nodes of the graphs into point sets in a vector space. The Earth Movers Distance (EMD) algorithm was then used to match the resulting points, with the computed flows specifying the many-to-many vertex correspondences between the input graphs. In this paper, we will present a distortion-free embedding, which represents input graphs as metric trees and then embeds them isometrically in the geometric space under the l1 norm. This not only improves the representational power of graphs in the geometric space, it also reduces the complexity of the previous work using recent developments in computing EMD under l1. Empirical evaluation of the algorithm on a set of recognition trials, including a comparison with previous approaches, demonstrates the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed framework. 2011 Elsevier Inc. Ranking efficient DMUs using the infinity norm and virtual inefficient DMU in DEA
In many applications, ranking of decision making units (DMUs) is a problematic technical task procedure to decision makers in data envelopment analysis (DEA), especially when there are extremely efficient DMUs. In such cases, many DEA models may usually get the same efficiency score for different DMUs. Hence, there is a growing interest in ranking techniques yet. The purpose of this paper is ra...

This paper extends the proposed method by Jahanshahloo et al. (2004) (a method for generating all the efficient solutions of a 0–1 multi-objective linear programming problem, Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research). This paper considers the recession direction for a multi-objective integer linear programming (MOILP) problem and presents necessary and sufficient conditions to have unbounde...
متن کاملAn alternative transformation in ranking using l1-norm in data envelopment analysis
Jahanshahloo et al. (Appl Math Comput 153:215–224, 2004) propose a method for ranking extremely efficient decision making units (DMUs) in data envelopment analysis (DEA) using super-efficiency technique and l1-norm and they show that the presented method is able to eliminate the existing difficulties in some methods. This paper suggests an alternative transformation to convert the nonlinear mod...

Recently, l2,1 matrix norm has been widely applied to many areas such as computer vision, pattern recognition, biological study and etc. As an extension of l1 vector norm, the mixed l2,1 matrix norm is often used to find jointly sparse solutions. Moreover, an efficient iterative algorithm has been designed to solve l2,1-norm involved minimizations. Actually, computational studies have showed th...
